Ecole de Légèreté
The Ecole de Légèreté
Philippe Karl famed ecuyer of the Cadre Noir for 13 years founded the Ecole de Légèreté to pass on the wisdom of the French masters. He is an ardent advocate of the horse believing in a clear and progressive education system that works with the nature of the horse, not against. He rejects any forceful or coercive measures but instead, teaches a complete philosophy based in a rich, centuries old equestrian culture coupled with the validation of current research in equine biomechanics. The founding principle of the Ecole is the absolute respect fo the horse.
The School of Légèreté takes its inspiration from the masters who have contributed to this equestrian philosophy: Xenophon, Fiaschi, La Broue, Pluvinel, La Guérinière, Dupaty de Clam, Hünersdorf, Freiherr von Sind, Baucher, Raabe, L’Hotte, Faverot de Kerbrech, Beudant, Oliveira etc. It is based on in-depth knowledge of the horse and is ready to re-analyze and improve itself with all types of progress in this respect (anatomy, physiology, locomotion, balance, psychology, and ethology).
Lastly it has the aim of getting the best from any horse and fulfilling the rider through the constant search for efficiency via the minimum use of means.
MASTER INSTRUCTOR-BERTRAND RAVOUX
Linda has been studying with her instructor and mentor, Bertrand Ravoux of France, since July of 2013. Mr Ravoux is one of 4 instructors entrusted by Philippe Karl with the education of current and future teachers of the Ecole de Légèreté. In her passionate pursuit of a deeper understanding of this method, she has travelled to 5 locations in the western US and Canada to continue her education with Mr Ravoux and has ridden 7 different horses under his virtuosic guidance (including her program horse that she has taken through the course and continues her education with.) She understands the volumes of technique she can learn from Mr Ravoux and has taken every opportunity to grow under his tutelage. She gladly intends on continuing this rewarding and transformational relationship for the foreseeable future.
Linda has passed her initial exams and is now a licensed Level 1 teacher in the Ecole de Légèreté. Mr Ravoux will be scheduled to teach open clinics at Willow Grove three times per year: April, July and October. This is an unparalleled opportunity for riders and auditors both to be able to learn the process and skills of Legerete from a master instructor while observing his work with a licensed teacher!
